KEVIN SMITH luthier
Kevin Smith brings a lifetime of experience to The Violin Shop. Mr. Smith received his Luthier degree from The Violin Making School of America in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1976. He went on to continue his violin, viola and cello education at William Moennig & Son in Philadelphia where he trained with Robert Cauer for over 2 years. From there he went on to train under Roland Feller in San Francisco for an additional 2 years. Kevin has been in the business of building custom made violins and violas as well as restoring and repairing instruments and bows since 1972.
PAULA SIMMONS teacher, contractor, performer and business manager Paula Simmons is a freelance violist in the San Diego area for over 20 years. She has a Bachelor's degree in Music Education and Masters degree in Music Performance. She teaches violin & viola private lessons at The Violin Shop for students ages 8 to 80. For several years Paula was also the conductor of the Primary Orchestra for the Civic Youth Orchestra. In November 2008, she became the founding conductor for the North Coast Strings, an adult beginners orchestra, sponsored by The Museum of Making Music in Carlsbad.
