Quartetto Sorrento has performed in concert at University of San Diego, Grossmont College, Palomar College, Classics at the Merc series in Temecula, various libraries in San Diego and the UCSD Outreach program. Each of our members has distinguished themselves as fine solo performing artists, chamber musicians, orchestral musicians and pedagogues.

A slightly different “twist” is that Greg Lawrence and Alyze Dreiling switch off leading the quartet as first violinist. This gives us a unique flexibility in terms of sound and style. We perform music ranging from Haydn and Mozart to Shostakovich, Debussy and Thompson, including works by our cellist and composer, Gordon Grubbs.

About our quartet members:

Alyze Dreiling was the founding Artistic Director/Conductor of Classics for Kids. She serves on the faculty at USD where she is the violinist for the piano trio in residence, Trio Licenza. She has also recorded for Contemporary Recording Society.

Greg Lawrence is the Artistic Director and concertmaster of Cabrillo Chamber Orchestra as well as conductor of the Intermediate Orchestra of Civic Youth Orchestra.

Paula Simmons is the Conductor /Artistic Director of North Coast Strings as well as Owner/Partner of The Violin Shop.

Gordon Grubbs is on the faculty at Grossmont College and is principal cellist of the Grossmont Symphony and Grossmont String Quartet.
